STW Gear Guide
The construction industry has some catching up to do when it comes to gear. The “shrink it and pink it” philosophy doesn’t serve anyone, but especially those of us who need to work in varying conditions. We’ve compiled a list of our favorite local Spokane retailers that carry women specific gear.

Carries a selection of women’s work clothes and boots with a good size range. A good resource for high vis clothing, but limited to men’s sizing.
The General Store

Good selection of work friendly winter layers. Carries some women’s work wear, and a small selection of women’s work boots.
Carhartt

Excellent source for work friendly rain and winter gear. Size range in store tends to be limited, so shop early in the season or online. Carries high vis gear, but limited to men’s sizes. Offers discounts for local union members.
Duluth Trading Company

Carries long and short inseam sizes, UPF protective gear, and gear made with more specialized fabrics made to withstand wear and tear in the field.

White’s Boots

Carries a huge selection of hand and power tools, including specialty/”designer” brands (tajima chalk boxes, stiletto hammers, and Stabila levels for example). Best place in town to buy tool bags in person. Also carries knee pads, hard hats, and vests.

Safety Girl is an online retailer offering a great selection of women specific safety gear, as well as their own line of workwear. Don’t be put out by the pink- they carry the standard high vis orange and yellows as well.

Many of us utilize Costco leading into the winter months for hand warmers, synthetic base layers, wool socks, muck boots, and more. Membership required, but access to one is usually not hard to find.

Outdoor gear retailer that often offers seasonal sales. Good source for wool socks, baselayers and wet weather gear.
Steep and Cheap

Backcountry’s discount gear outlet. The selection may be limited, but it’s an excellent resource for cheap but quality gear.
